My name is pronounced ARE-uh-theen.
I'm also
Thar be faery, pagan, esoteric, and generally woo-woo weirdness here, although you may not see it unless you're in the related filters.
A note on friending and reading: This being Dreamwidth, it should be apparent when you get notifications whether I have subscribed to you as well as given you access. I might not subscribe back, for various reasons (most commonly because I know someone in real life and don't mind if they read my locked posts, but their journal doesn't interest me), so please don't expect that if I give you access that I will necessarily read and comment on your journal as well.
I am addicted to Mystery Science Theater 3000, Harry Potter, and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. If you would like to read Harry Potter fandom posts from me, check out my HP fandom journal
A word about my spelling, vocabulary, and grammar choices: hybrid. (Well, I did say a word...) Being steadily fed on British comedy since high school plus dozens of visits to Canada and living there for six months have resulted in British and Canadian habits both turning up somewhat higgledy-piggledy in my primarily American lexicon. So don't poke at me when I say colour, humour, dialogue, judgement, and double my l's in words like traveller, but then go on to license, pajamas, program, and check. It is, to some degree, laziness, but it's not ignorance.
Also, poutine. (C'est bon!)
If you would like to take any of my icons that say I made them myself, feel free, just please credit. I'm not going to stalk you and check if you did or didn't, but it's polite.
The coastline runs west [from Los Angeles], and then turns north up to the misty bay of San Francisco, which the Guide describes as a "good place to go. It's very easy to believe that everyone you meet there also is a space traveler. Starting a new religion for you is just their way of saying 'hi.' Until you've settled in and got the hang of the place it is best to say 'no' to three questions out of any given four that anyone may ask you, because there are some very strange things going on there, some of which an unsuspecting alien could die of." The hundreds of curling miles of cliffs and sand, palm trees, breakers, and sunsets are described in the Guide as "boffo. A good one."
