It's quite obviously a cooler color temperature than the 2700K sodium lights were, yeah. It also seems brighter, but I don't know if that's absolutely true in terms of lumens or if it just seems that way because it's relatively bluer. I don't know why they didn't use something more like warm-white and not so bright.
