huh, I didn't actually c/p the above post! Good that the damage wasn't too great - tsunamis are, I think, the scariest possible consequence of earthquakes.
The geography is such that it would have needed a much, much more major tsunami to come anywhere near here. I'm not actually on the western extremity, rather at the southern point of the bay, so it would have needed to surge into the bay and enough to inundate the southern part. Even so it's places like Moffett Field that are most in danger; we're a few miles from that.
