Apparently they have "more authority than the U.S. Congress" and have decided to summarily rename D.C. the "District of Christ" and "divorce" it from Columbia - sorry, the Queen of Heaven - sorry, Baal (apparently! "Benefiel says America is 'cursed' for living under a Pagan goddess whom he alternatively calls Columbia or Baal").

I think those using the term "spiritual warfare" and calling this, essentially, a big act of malefic magic that should not just be ignored (yet not directly combated either, since that's only adding war to war, to work against the people themselves), have probably got it right.

One, I'm going to say this is sick.

Two, I believe in spirits and have a shamanistic viewpoint. I know very little about heaven politics but it makes me worry how this is going to affect things down here. :/

I'm sorry I may not be taking this seriously enough but this whole thing just made me giggle. I mean come on folks (directed at the people trying to do this) you're not going to be able to go against the entire belief system of the country. They can do whatever they want but it's really nothing more than fapping off. Sure it makes you feel better but you've accomplished nothing other than wasting your time.

Who is "the people trying to do this" and what is "the entire belief system of the country"? Not sure who you are saying is being silly here.

I would just use the usual approach, which is the sort of flood-with-white-light/good-energy/anti-pollutant, without anger or attempts to control outcome. Then again, that's what I do all the time anyhow!

By the folks trying to do this I meant the people who are planning to change D.C. and all that junk. As to the belief system of the country, these folks can try to change names all they want and have a spiritual war but they won't be accomplishing anything.

Ah, ok. Well, it's certainly a bizarre goal, from my perspective; but their method is basically a directed act of the will of a large number of people, focused in an attack (although I wonder if they view it as defense) against a certain group. The mindset required is worrying, and "just ignore it" tends to deny the effectiveness of magic which is somewhat contradictory for most Pagans. (There was a Dion Fortune quote in some of the articles about how sticking pins in a wax image and burning candles before an image of the Virgin [an amusing comparison in this case since here she's a manifestation of this "Queen of Heaven" that must be stomped down] are the same sort of act, and while you may think both to be gross superstition, you cannot logically say the one has power and the other does not.)
