The calendar pinned to the bulletin board at work proclaims today to be Juneteenth. Now, this is a very multifaith calendar with regards to holidays - aside from the usual Jewish and Christian ones, it includes Wiccan, Buddhist, and Muslim as well. But "Juneteenth"? I'd never heard of it. Apparently it's a holiday celebrating the ending of slavery in the United States. Whaddyaknow.

Yeah, I looked up a website... was like, Emancipation Proclamation, but there was a year and a half's delay in Texas because of.. something.. anyway, Googling on "juneteenth" would surely turn it up.

It just wasn't anything I'd heard of before. So, did I learn my one thing for today?
