(Whee! Who, being from California, doesn't love the Beach Boys? It's in the blood! Don't make me take a poll!!)
So... the (taped) episode of MST3K I'm currently watching has ads for the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Fine, okay.
But these are talking about some kind of discount over Presidents' Day weekend. For those not in the know, that's in mid-February.
Can you imagine? Only in California (er... in the continental US...except Florida and similar... and obviously places like Mexico and Hawaii might as well; shh!!!) would they suggest going anywhere near the beach (and on rollercoasters, and to buy really, really good salt water taffy) in February!!
(not that anyone with any sense - or without a very well-insulated dry-suit - would be going into the actual ocean... the Pacific is cold-a-riffic!)
In unrelated news, while it's been decent early-autumn weather outside (sometimes sunny, sometimes overcast, daily highs averaging 75 F / 23 C, nightly lows 55 F / 12 C)... in the Media Lab it is consistently about 80 F / 26 C and too humid, because of all the computers and people giving off heat and people giving off water vapour. I need a long-sleeved shirt when I drive to work, but as soon as I get there it's way too warm. Bleah.
