so, like.

i just received an order from Dagon Productions and by mistake, they sent me two copies of an item i ordered, one booklet nested inside another. so of course, i emailed them as said wow, this is great, however, i didn't pay for it, and since the books by this author seem to tend to limited edition, i'll return it ASAP so you can put it back in stock.

the response i received seemed over-grateful, like this was an unusual response. from my perspective, i got something i didn't pay for. While i would happily keep it from a big company, from a small business, i figure stock is money and it's best to return it. heck, i'd hope for the same, were i a small business.

really.. i'm confused as to why this merits gratitude (beyond simple thanks)?

===Unfortunately, it is an unusual thing when people are honest about such things. It is also unusual for peopel to write reasonably well-written notes of compliment to a company or organisation that is actually doing a good job.

American culture teaches us to be greedy. An alarmingly high number of people take that more to heart than anyone has any right too.

I think that most people, in your situation, would have kept the other book and either stuck it on a shelf, given it as a gift, or sold it on eBay.
