Another Michael (Sullivan) dream last night. I ought to start keeping tallies and see what proportion of my dreams are about him, about [livejournal.com profile] enotsola not wanting me, about random boys or the ones I knew in high school (exclusive of Michael, and interestingly, also of Aaron, who rarely appears), or about flying. Those seem to be the four repeating themes. Everything else seems to be one-offs, or at least I'm not picking up on any other recurring themes.

*blinks* My aesthetics appear to have changed at some point.

When I was visiting [livejournal.com profile] enotsola in June of 2000 and saw some Canada Day-related commercials on TV, all done up in red and white, I remember thinking that it looked strange because "the blue was missing".

Now I think that having the blue is "too busy".

Meh.

I'm not sure, but I think a few minutes ago I may have said "here and now is not the time and place" (for a conversation).

Grammatically, that makes "here" a time, and "now" a place, as opposed to having said "...not the place and time."

The implications are amusing.

Amusing phrase from this comic strip: "I will drink you so far under the table you will come out in an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in China!"

The only two quotes in my quotefile (127 pages) which contain the word "distressingly" are:

"A person can be smart. People are stupid. Big groups of people with heavy firearms are damn near braindead, but distressingly mobile."
--K'hel (someone on the truewyrm email list, but whom I have also met once or twice)

and

"In aviation, FOD means Foreign Object Damage, e.g., what happens when a jet engine sucks up a rock on the runway or a bird in flight. Finger of Death is a distressingly apt description of what this generally does to the engine."
--The Jargon File, entry for FOD.

I was searching for the former to quote it to [livejournal.com profile] saizai, but came across the latter first in the file.
