(well actually, just hair, but it's my family's usual joke-word for it)

Apparently my desired cute hairdo with which I would triumph over the humidity of the eastern part of the continent (specifically southern Ontario) is not to be. According to my stylist, I not only don't have the fine texture required, but despite its looks, that style is apparently achieved via plenty of blow-drying and "product", which conflicts with my preferred "spend two minutes brushing" method of doing my hair in the morning. Because my hair has changed texture so much since the last time I had a "boy cut" (admittedly, that was pushing twenty years ago), she thinks my only realistic options are either retexturing (somewhat costly), or "embracing the curl".

Besides the fact that I just don't think I like curly hair, much less myself with curly hair, "embracing the curl" also sounds like something that would require actual everyday effort (maybe even a daily shower! eep! what do you mean, get up an hour earlier every morning?) to keep looking decent. Not my thang. So that pretty much leaves me with retexturing. She suggested I think about being a "model", that is, the floor demonstration for someone at a trade show or something, if I wanted to get it done for low or no cost.

LOL... Draft Registration

Seriously though, with talk of the draft murmuring around, I'm even gladder I'm planning on skipping town. I sometimes wonder why people make so much of the idea that *gasp* women would be included in such a draft. I mean, yes, it's terrible - but so is drafting men. Equally terrible. Just as it should be equally fine for women to join voluntarily, and not thought of as kind of weird. I think thoughts and values regarding armed forces are stuck rather further back in time than on many other topics.

Why did only my home copy of AIM ask me if I wanted to upgrade to 5.5.something? *scratches head*

My little tiny dot-wound in my right elbow from having a needle poked in me last Wednesday has turned into a yellowish bruise somewhere between the size of a nickel and a quarter. I need to go have more blood taken at Kaiser at some point, when I get around to remembering not to eat after about 10 pm, so I can do most of the 12-hour fast by sleeping through it. Wonder if I should have them stick it in the other arm if they can.
