Something from an editorial in the Mercury last month that I meant to post, but didn't get around to:

"See, I have yet to learn how to segregate my moral concerns. It seems to me if I abhor intolerance, discrimination and hatred when they affect people who look like me, I must also abhor them when they affect people who do not. For that matter, I must abhor them even when they benefit me. Otherwise, what I claim as moral authority is really just self-interest in disguise."

Wow, check this language out (emphasis mine):

"Kaiser Permanente does not discriminate based upon: race; color; national origin; ancestry; religion; sex (including gender, gender identity, or gender-related appearance/behavior whether or not stereotypically associated with the person's assigned sex at birth); marital status; sexual orientation; or age of any contracting party, prospective contracting party, or person reasonably expected to benefit from the contract as a subscriber, enrollee, member, or otherwise."
