4 am poem

on lapis fringes of my thought
I catch the velvet whisper
of Night's star-sequined cloak
as, stepping through the gate
of Twilight's garden
with the jewel of the Moon
about her throat,
she lights down soft
to dance with us.

patriotism through food!

I must be a sucker. A $4-a-bag sucker.


P.S. "We don't much like to wave the flag / We find patriotism shocking! / So we celebrate on Canada Day / By going cross-border shopping!" comes to mind...

P.P.S. "Exotic"? some of the Terra Chips have things like taro, which I guess is "exotic" (my sense for this word is completely spoiled by living in California, and near San Francisco at that, I think). But this bag is potatoes, sweet potatoes, and beets, albeit unusual colours of potatoes and beets.
