This page about the correlation between a state's average IQ and whether Bush or Gore won the state in 2000 is interesting. Also on the page is a comparison of jobs lost and gained under various presidents, showing the Democrats come out on top. One can't just take those numbers at face value, though. Roosevelt tops the list with 5.3% gained, but there was this little thing called WWII responsible for most of that, and I'd hardly say it could be attributed to his being a Democrat. Likewise, Hoover is at the bottom with 9% lost, but he was president during the Depression, and there was a lot more going on than just his being a Republican, including stuff no one could have controlled no matter what party they were ("Dust Bowl", anyone?). Still, interesting to read.
I think really the correlation is more in the way that higher IQ's tend to get more involved in academia and perhaps broader, more liberal thinking, not "Republicans are dumb" exactly.
