1. Do you trust your instincts?
Occasionally, but it's hard to say because I don't often get instinctual impulses in the first place.

2. Get up and go or plan, plan, plan?
Plan, plan, plan.

3. Do you ask for directions when you are lost or do you keep on going?
Keep on going, but I carry maps. It's not that I don't wan't help, I just don't want to talk to strangers.

4, Right now: do you know which way is east?
Yes. *points behind self*

5. If a tree falls in the woods, and no one hears it -- did it make a noise?
Yes. (Zen Buddhism isn't my thing.)

(There once was a man who said, "God
Must find it incredibly odd
That the juniper tree
Just ceases to be
When there's no one about in the Quad."

Dear Sir, your astonishment's odd;
I am always about in the Quad.
So the juniper tree
Continues to be
Observed by--
     --Yours faithfully,
     God.)

from a strictly scientific standpoint, the answer to the tree question is "no" because sound is defined as a vibration against the eardrum or other listening device - hence the absense of a listener ipso facto prevents the existence of sound.

(of course there is a strong Heisenbergian argument to be made that this is bullshit, since the inability to record sound without a listener present makes it impossible to prove.)
