I believe this is a different Ancient Ways than the one that takes place in June at Harbin Hot Springs, but this (excerpt of a locked) post in [livejournal.com profile] nonfluffypagans gave me a bit of a double-take:

"attending a Dragon Magick workshop led by Mistress Sophia of the Pagan band URN..."

*holds up a marble* I think the world is about this big.

Yes. The Pagan gathering I attended this past weekend had gotten its name before learning that there was another gather with a similar name. So Ancient Ways is subtitles "A Gathering of Spirituality and Magick."

It fucking rocked.

Oh, yeah. The magic convention that happened earlier this year that I helped organize (Crucible) hit a major stumbling block when we found that there was an alchemy convention named Crucible that had been around longer than us, but we had our webpage up a year longer. In the end, we decided to ignore the name issue, since one is in NJ and the other is in CA.

It happens. There are really only so many cool names.

Even my band URN hit a snag when we were contacted by a band in Finland by the same name. Our lead singer Dominic has led URN through varying incarnations since like 1989, but we agreed that if we're ever touring in Finland we'll go by the band's alternate name, Takhisis.
