Okay, let's count the actually useful work-related things I did today.

1. I put some old magazines in the recycle bin (we had such a large stack that I am doing only a few a day to give others a chance to put things in the bin).

2. I delivered copies of yesterday's packet of invoices-to-be-paid to my supervisor, and the originals to the dean to be signed.

3. I unpacked a shipment of one book from Baker & Taylor.

4. I emailed a co-worker asking for contact information in another department (if she had it) for a special project.

5. I put a bunch of books from the "Friends of the Library Room" (where we store rejected donations and books discarded from the stacks) out on the book sale table. (This actually usefully occupied about an hour of time, since I had to sort through stacks of junk several times.)

Yeah. So like, a grand total of an hour and fifteen minutes' work in an eight-hour day (eight and a half if you want to be technical - 10 - 6:30 allows me 30 minutes' lunch, but I almost never actually leave the room for it). I'm not trying to be a deadbeat, really...

Now, going to go buy fancy whiskey to take to [livejournal.com profile] the_misha, et al.'s party tomorrow.

It's funny how we do this "job" thing. We need money to exist in the city, so we do a "job" that takes up an extraordinary amount of time of our daily lives. I'd love it if my occupational day was a "joy" thing.

"Whisky" (with no "e" is the best...It's scotch...single malt...but, that's my opinion) :-)

I had heard of the Irish Single Malts just the other day...I said, "Really?!". I don't know any whiskeys in the Americas that do not use the "e". It's only Scotch that does that, I believe. I looked up Seagrams (Canadian Whiskey), and they do not. I also looked up Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey, and it does not...But, I could be wrong that they all don't.

Would like to try the Irish Single Malt, but this weekend, I'll be doing the Campbell Highland Games and enjoying Talisker, Laphroig, Oban...Good Scotch Single Malts! Alba Go Bragh!

:-)
