Fortunately, it wasn't lost on me. The secret to a happy life is to figure out what you love to do, and get someone to pay you for it. Live within (or preferably below) your means, and don't worry about what anyone else has. And for the love of life, have fun!
I've considered making a comment, and a more serious one ;-), but unfortunately, I agree with him.
I just disagree with how possible what he's saying really is unless you've already "established" yourself in some way. Not necessarily having money or a reputation, but having... a history, a track record.
until you've done it, or tried to do it, the established way enough to satisfy some mystical requirements, the world and nearly everyone in it seems content to actually make it functionally impossible for you to do it the right way.
