arethinn: glowing green spiral (confused (Mads buh?))
I have been trying to think of a word in a certain phrase for months now and it is still completely eluding me. The phrase is "Where is the ______ in that?" (where "that" = taking some action) The missing word means "benefit" or "gain" (not "fun", but fun is not excluded as a possible benefit), and the phrase means roughly "What the heck is the point of doing that? What would anyone get out of it?" My brain is telling me that the word starts with a k-sound, but it is not "coin", "cachet" (makes no sense anyway), "kickback", "cool"... though, too, I may be entirely wrong about the initial sound, perhaps through mixing up one phrase with another. But it's not "sense" either. My brain is also hearing it in a David Lister voice, so that may be a possible clue, but that could also just be a brain fart. Anyone?

Edit: [livejournal.com profile] saint_durrutti sez "percentage", which is sounding good the more I roll it around in my mouth. I do still wonder where the Lister voice is coming from. I think maybe he uses an entirely different "where's [or perhaps "what's"] the ____ in that?" phrase at some point...
