One of my students, wanting to recommend a film to me ("Blow Dry"), just asked me if I knew who Alan Rickman was.

I didn't do that, though. I merely asked him if that was a rhetorical question.
ETA: I should mention that this was an especially thickheaded thing for him to ask, because two days ago he had seen over my shoulder onto some post I was writing or reading, pointed out "Oh, did I just see the word 'Snape'?" and I confirmed that that was exactly what he saw. I suppose it's not 100% that someone who has read the books has seen the films, but still.
