I wish I saw Tweak. I like Tweak. Unfortunately, I dislike dropdown menus, and I despise ones that I can't use Firefox's "open in new tab" feature with. So I use a different basic view for IJ (plus a Greasemonkey script that makes it into colors I can stand), and I only see Tweak for a moment when I'm logging in from work. None of the other layouts show Tweak. Damn.
IJ has many of them. And I don't like ANY. None. Nada. I tolerate the "Brown" one, 'cos I've overwritten it with a Stylish script that at least makes it black text on a white background, but I can't say I like the actual layout part... I just have less problems with the vertical menu on the left.
Ugh, you're right. They're all hideous. Tweak's is actually the best of the lot. Oh my.
I agree with the person in the comment thread who said "what I really want is my beloved XColibur". (Is it that while the code is open-source, the styles aren't? Or look-and-feel type copyright issues?)
Personally I like horizontal drop-down menus, but you're right it's annoying that I can't middle-click them (I live by middle-click! live by I tell you!). About the only thing I do on IJ is read friends list, though, so it's not as annoying as it could be.
