One of my student employees just offered me some gum. I opened my mouth and went "aahhhh", just being silly. He said "whoa! You have a tongue piercing!" which was apparently news to him (I don't spend a lot of time with my mouth wide open or sticking my tongue out, I guess).
"Have you been wearing that all this time?" (i.e., have I not seen it because you don't wear it much)
"Yeah, I wear it pretty much constantly. I've never had it out for more than a few hours. I hear a tongue piercing is prone to healing over very quickly." (might be a different story given that I've had it for about 7.5 years, but I don't want to test it)
"Wow. Uh. It's just, like, finding out one of your best friends is gay."
O.o Um...
