"Chic" and "sheik" are not pronounced the same, as far as I'm concerned, although I suppose many Americans screw up either or both. When I was a child I didn't know "chic" was French and actually pronounced it "chick". A lot of people say the latter as "sheek" when it should be more like "shake" (hence other Romanizations like "shaykh").
But when you write Death Eater sheik when what you mean is Death Eater chic... now that's just funny.

If you said it as "chick" you'd actually sound quite foolish.
