[livejournal.com profile] enotsola and I will be going to Disneyland at the end of August! Yay! The last time I was there was 12 years ago and the time before that 19 years ago. He of course has never been. Kinda 'spensive but that's what big COLA retro lump sums are for. This also is passing for a "honeymoon", I guess, although we've been married two months (!) now. We're going to leave on the 23rd (also my 30th birthday O.o) and come back on the 27th.

Are you sure you're not thinking of the Harry Potter thing at Universal Orlando?

Did you see the dates? 23rd to 27th is Saturday to Wednesday, which means at the park Sunday-Tuesday. I wanted to have at least one of the driving days be on a weekend, you see, to hopefully make the best of traffic.

*Notes upcoming 30th birthday*
*Adds 19 and 12*
*Subtracts results from 30*

You'd think I would have checked with the calendar right next to me >_>

Best way to beat the traffic is to get up reaaaally early. Of course then you're really tired once you get there :/

No, not a further 19 years beyond 12, just straight 19 years ago. 1989 and 1996.

Nah, that's why the extra day on either end. We'll spend a day each way just driving and collapsing when we arrive (there, and home).

Wow, that is awesome. I've never been, and always kind of wanted to go. I hope you have the time of your life!

Thanks! How was travelling for you yesterday?

It was quite hellacious actually. Sigh... I think I am going to try to avoid air travel like the plague for the next little while. Well, at least with United airlines. I travel by air alot, and my trip there and back were quite honestly some of the most frustrating trips I have ever experienced.

God, I totally sound like Debbie Downer. The vacation itself was totally wonderful, however. It was just the air travel that was a pain.

That's so cool! I went with my family when I was sixteen (I had bright green hair and it happened to be St Patrick's day -- that was a sucky coincidence, because random passersby wouldn't shut the hell up about my hair), but it was so awesome. I've been itching to go back for ages, but seriously, how can they justify it being so expensive?

Go on the Peter Pan ride and eat at the Monster Mash cafe for me! Those were my two favourite bits.

Oh, and did you know that Universal Studios is doing part of their theme park a la Harry Potter? It won't be ready till 2009 or 2010 though.

Ah, and I see in previous comments that you do already know ... alas, always slow on the news.

Mine are hands-down Space Mountain, and Pirates of the Caribbean. I also remember the Blue Bayou restaurant being good but it's pretty expensive.

That's Universal Studios Orlando, not Hollywood, unfortunately. I hope to get to go, but then we're talking expensive airfare, too. Not something we can realistically up and decide to drive to.

I totally forgot there's a Disneyland in California! I just assumed you're going to the one in Florida.

Wait -- one of them's Disneyworld and one of them's Disneyland, right?

Date: Jul. 14th, 2008 07:44 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] starlightforest.livejournal.com
That's not Disneyland. That's Disney World.

Yeah. The fact that there's a Universal Studios near each of them probably only serves to confuse the situation, heh.
