Apparently June is "Gay/Lesbian Heritage Month" at Foothill College.

Heritage?

Pride, sure. I can dig that. Gay pride is a good thing. Having a month for it, slightly silly as all the other months (black heritage, women's month, Asian Pacific month...), but again, fine. I can dig it.

But "heritage"? Come on. That's not a hereditary culture.

I think it's intended as "cultural heritage," as in, "Here's what we've inherited from those who've gone before."

Hmmm... that has me on a whole thought-thread now about queerness, heredity, lineal descent, and psychosocial inheritances. Interesting...
