Oddly enough, the last place I saw this D&D stats thing was on alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.gothic (off topic, obviously), but I figure, what the heck. Kind of like a personality test, I tend to score slightly differently each time I take it, because some of these answers (particularly as pertain to Charisma) are really "I don't know."
Str: 3 -- This is definitely wrong. I'm not that weak, I just don't have much upper body strength (only me and half the women in the world!). I don't even know what a "military press" means. To pick up an object in front of me on the ground, I'd say about 50 pounds is what I can lift (how much does a box of 10 reams of paper weigh?). Obviously, if you load it on my back and let me stand up under it, I can carry about my own weight fairly easily (piggy back rides, anyone?) and should well be able to lift about double (since each of my legs alone can hold my weight), although at that point I'd probably stagger trying to carry it. So this rating of 3 is just bad and wrong and I spit upon it. Ptooey.
Int: 11 -- This is stupid (ok, average). I am not. I estimated my IQ as 140 (which I'm told is about what it was when I was tested at 6 years old - granted, this could change, but I still feel reasonably bright), and I have a bachelor's degree, which is pretty educated compared to a lot of people. I read once that a good formula to estimate was IQ/10, and I'd accept 14 as my INT. But not 11, come on.
Wis: 15 -- I'd believe this one. And this was with answering no to the questions about listening to my gut and my guesses being right. Although I don't think of myself as "wise", I would say that I have common sense, am not easily suckered by sales pitches, etc., and that's the other sort of thing that counts as WIS, so sure.
Dex: 10 -- Sure, I guess I'm average. I would have thought I'd be on the higher side of average, since I can do things like turn cartwheels and do handstands (I did take a tumbling course once, I just don't currently practice), type nearly 100 wpm which has got to require appreciable manual dexterity, and that funny card-bending "bridge"-shaped shuffle, but meh, whatever.
Con: 10 -- I think I'm probably more hardy than this, maybe more like 12, but then again maybe not.
Chr: 7 -- I dunno about this. I don't generally think of myself as a social screw-up, as this would imply, but it's true I don't have the magnetism that makes a good leader or someone who's always popular, frequently asked on dates, or whatever.
[edit] Oh yeah - on abpeg we then went on to say what sort of character this described. Obviously, I am a cleric who can barely lift their holy symbol and whose sermons really leave something to be desired. ^_^

Date: Apr. 16th, 2003 08:15 am (UTC)From:I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks this test in on crack. I also don’t know what a military press is, and clicking the hyperlinks doesn’t work, since they’re broken. I haven’t done a bench press in years, and I don’t have a gym handy to check it.
I know my Dex is higher than whatever pathetic number it gave me — just because I don’t currently have the time for one off of each list of dex-related hobbies doesn’t mean I’ve suddenly gotten clumsy.
I think this test is pretty whacked, and I certainly wouldn’t worry too much about the results it gives. (Hmmm. I wonder if I should try to build a better one.)
