Before I get on with the show,enotsola suggested that a reason I didn't get that many responses might be because I made the results viewable to all, i.e., the questions were not private. Is that an issue for anyone out there who didn't respond, or was it just that you didn't feel like it for whatever reason?
andrewjthomas - What's the meaning of life? and oopsz - Why do bad things happen to good people?
Neither of these are questions I feel I'm at all qualified to answer. I'm not sure that life has any "meaning" at all; it may simply happen to have happened. A similar principle may apply to why bad things happen to good people. My ability to talk philosophy is not great, however, so I'm going to have to leave it at that.
tiggrrl- Why purple?
Are you referring to my hair, "a fey smudge of purple", or just in general? Really the answer is much the same however you slice it - I just like it that way. Purple resonates well with me. Someone once said that my preferring my hair to be purple was a subconscious attempt to match it up with the colour of my energy field, which is an amusing explanation if nothing else.
devafall - How would you describe your beliefs and practices at this point?
Modern Californian Faerie Witchcraft (or Witchy Faerie-craft, I'm not sure which really makes more sense). "Modern" has mostly to do with not claiming any particular descent, as I'm pretty much going it alone here, but also to differentiate from being reconstructionist, and to allow for the mixture of technological elements with those of nature. "Californian" should be apparent, but the emphasis is that what I am doing here might not necessarily carry over to any other locale, both in terms of things like seasonal celebrations (e.g. our long summer and lack of much autumn beg adjustments to the calendar, but the seasons are different in other places), and of resident spirits/gods. It also means I'm going to have some work to do in relocating to Canada. ^_~ "Faerie" is definitely the flavour I'm trying to capture, both on purpose, and by accident because of where it's coming from (i.e., me). "Witchcraft" is a best-fit, but "Paganism" is also quite applicable. It's surely not "Wicca".
zaecus - What's the most fun or entertaining thing to you when you're alone?
Hmm... That kind of depends on whether I have a "project of the moment" or not. Sometimes I get on these random kicks of whatever, and that entertains me while I have a streak of energy for it. Then they get put aside and either forgotten totally, or some few of them I return to now and again when I get a new rush of interest. But the most generally entertaining thing that I do while alone is to watch and re-watch all my Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Red Dwarf tapes, hoping to catch just a few more jokes in the former (and getting some nostalgia value for the ones I remember from high school), and inadvertently further memorizing the latter.
and How do you manage to have such a wonderfully magical view of technology?
*blinks* I'm quite animistic... the world around me is generally alive. Manufactured objects I think have less "inborn" spirit, but putting one's own energy and attention towards it can "wake them up". I don't know. It just seems like the natural, sensible response.
