computer woogy

This is seriously bizarre. enotsola, darkmoon, and digitalsidhe all seem to be having computer problems at the same time... I wonder if the only reason my computer is OK is because it's off and I'm here in Canada! (not implying there's any kind of real connection, although there are hints there may be some kind of issue with a recent Windows Update for the WinXP folks, but I was thinking there was something more like "cosmic rays" going on... I would blame Mercury, but I think retrograde is over?)

Anyone else's computer kablooey lately?

Yeah, metaphorge was having PS problems on his laptop, but darkmoon was RAM and now enotsola is definitely NOT RAM because we've taken out both RAM sticks (individually) and it's still doing it. enotsola says that now oopsiwentglam (a friend of his) seems to be having a problem that sounds similar to his (total freeze, no mouse movement, CTRL-ALT-DELETE does nothing, can't seem to reliably repeat it as connected to a certain program, combination of programs, or piece of hardware - hence swapping out RAM, trying to isolate problem).

Well... this house is air-conditioned now, so it's like 76 all the time, so I doubt that... ditto metaphorge, who is in San Francisco...

Are you sure it's not related to the recent run of viruses and worms? They were hitting pretty badly last week. I haven't had any problems with my systems, but then I'm not in Canada and I'm using Linux more and more these days.

My wife's computer at home is all whacked up. There've been a bunch of security updates because of the latest virus plague (W32/IRCbot.worm). I also think that the latest version of activeX is mucked up a bit.
