Did better on the lap around campus today - made it almost all the way. In fact I only cut off the last little bit because to return exactly to start would have made me have to wend through a bunch of traffic that was trying to get onto campus at the time of day I happened to be walking. I would like to keep up a brisk 4 mph but that just hurts too much (the shins thing). Today I did about 3 mph on average. Of course this all burns a totally silly amount of calories (like 70) but hey, the point is really the activity, since I am terribly out of even a little bit of shape.
Today's good smell: damp earth and redwood needles/leaves.
Also: found a sixth crow feather while on the lap. True this is well removed in time from the others, so I think this one might be counted as coincidental, but still it's odd that I've gotten six in less than a month, after not finding any at the same time of year (moulting season, apparently) for the past five years.
