estaratshirai posted a link to a fan-shaped, rather than tree-shaped, genealogy chart here (apparently a Martha Stewart thing? weird). Oddly, I was reminded of a phrase I wrote once in a Malkavian character's background story, about being "a spirit-fan spread through time". I like the tree shape because, well, trees and all that... but somehow this particular diagram shape inspired the thought that in a way me and my ancestors could be considered to be the same being... glances at different points along the same thread, woven into the tapestry. Of course, the further back you go, the more likely you are to find a common ancestor with someone else... so how many threads are there really? If there is a "Lucy", is there only one thread?
