I was surprised to see, when I opened my pay stub today, that my gross pay had increased by about $200. I guess I must have gotten a step increase despite not actually having my evaluation done (main reason being that my administrator had bladder stone surgery a couple weeks ago and won't be back to work until next Wednesday). Apparently they're automatic unless someone tells them "no". Whoopee!
In car news, apparently there are two reasons things have been stagnating: the dealer only gets allocations (what's coming in) every two weeks, so it's not like he can keep me updated every day; and they just aren't building these damn Corollas with ABS (especially on the manual xmis, vs. the automatic). I wonder why it's even listed as an option if it's impossible to get, but maybe that has to do with being in California and I wouldn't have any trouble if I were trying to buy it in upstate New York or something. Apparently the theory is that when you live somewhere where there is little or no severe weather, you don't need ABS. True I guess, but kind of screws over someone like myself who is planning to take the car into a very different climate.
Anyways, it seems that's the main thing that's holding up the line; he claims that if I relented on the ABS that a desirable car could be found within a week. So I need to decide if I'm really going to be a stickler for that (which may result in a "slim and none, and slim's out of town" chance of getting a car before I move), or if I can survive without it. It's not like people didn't drive in snow and ice for many years without ABS, but still it seems like something it would be good to have. Bother.
Edit: Oh, and my blood tests from Kaiser came back all normal and stuff. In fact some things, like LDL, way below target maximum. Yay.
