Yesterday's good smell of the day: Spruce (?) needles on hard dirt baking in the hot late-summer sun.
Today's good smell of the day: Thunderstorm and rain.
There is definitely serious climate change going on here. Never mind how rare it is to have rain in September in this part of CA, we've had more thunder in the past 12 months than I can remember in like the 12 years before that. I may be exaggerating, but it's certainly been enough difference that I've noticed it. Lack of thunderstorms here is why I used to be scared of them when I chanced to be in a place where they occurred (such as southern Oregon, or the first few times I was in Ontario in the summer).
