lothie started on the idea of posting a picture a day of herself. I'm not going to do that, but like her I really don't like seeing pictures of myself. My hair's still growing, though, and I know how much you all care about that, so I thought a picture or two might be in order. This is "au natural", by the way, without all the usual rigmarole I go through to straighten it, but it has been slept in (which calms it down a lot - right after a shower I am a puffball. I envy all of you who can take a shower and immediately leave the house!).

I don't like all the stupid curly and kinky bits (kinky not as in tightly curled African hair, but as in "the lock of hair has a big kink in it like a ski jump"), but when it's full like this and all going in different directions I can at least handle it. After a few days when it starts getting more oil in it, though, it clumps together into the "Mary Tyler Moore" look which

enotsola reads instead as "Selphie" and thinks is "cute", but which I really hate. It's still going to have to about double in length before it's as long as it was when I cut it, though. Grr. (I wish I could grow it out as long as I had when I was 16, but that's nearly triple and besides not having the patience, it hasn't seemed to want to grow that long since then, despite occasional attempts.)

I tried that at summer camp once, actually. (Well, not real cornrows as I have the wrong hair texture, but lots of tiny braids anyway.) When it was in it looked silly and when I took it out it looked HIDEOUS. Like, "OMG who the hell attacked me with the crimpers, what is this 1987?" kind of crap.

You should have made the most of it and accented your new do with a big poofy ponytail to the side in a big ol scrunchie in some god awful hot pink color.

patience has always been my problem. Or rater the lack of it.

I did manage to grow my hair long once. Buts its always the 'in between' bit thats annoying. I don't think I have any photos of me with oong hair.. but Ill see if I can find one.. they are worth a laugh...

Now that you're back, we should hang out some. I'm not sure when, but soonish.
