Alchemy Notebook -- beautiful illustrations.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Campaign for "Weird Al" Yankovic -- they collected the necessary $15,000, and then just before the paperwork was submitted, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce raised the fee to $25,000! Last I looked they were up to $17,000 or so.

Sylvan Cuisine -- this appears to be from some game or other, but actually, this menu sounds rather interesting to me. I had never heard of oak-leaf wine before, but it's definitely a real beverage (in fact brewed in at least two distinct varieties: one with young leaves, another with mature ones). The only place I can find that sells it is in Scotland, though, so I guess it's another thing to add to the "brewing dream-book" for me, along with hawthorn blossom wine, rose and/or primrose, and birch sap (all of which are known to exist). I wonder if it's possible to brew a wine with violet blossoms? Or jasmine for that matter?

My understanding is that you can brew a wine with almost anything that's fermentable...and most organic materials are that contain sugar.

OK, well, then I guess by "possible" I mean "is it likely to turn out well".

Ah, now THAT I don't have an answer for. Depends, I suppose, on what and how you ferment it....and, of course, your tastes.

Honey mead has tended to have a bad reputation, for example, but it has often been made from the remaining bits of honeycombs and the worst grade of honey...so is it a surprise the end product is less then great? Made from a good grade of honey, on the other hand, the results can be quite pleasing.

I dunno about poor honey, but I've heard some mazers talk about *purposely* adding the bits of wax, propolis, etc. etc. as it good flavour (if perhaps different than what people are used to from mead). *shrug*

Something about oak leaf wine strikes me as being so elven my ears feel pointier just hearing about it. LOL
