I have no idea what image (sound?) that should actually conjure up, nor, indeed, why snake venom should be described as cold rather than hot, even burning; the phrase just popped into my head driving home last night...

Venom is a very old metal band. They are often credited with creating the style, the feel, of music that inspired black metal which often sounds "hallowed out" or "cold". "Thin" would also be an apt description of allot of black metal. It is often poorly (either cheaply or intentionally produced to sound deconstructed) which gives it a bare bones feel.

After the initial pain, I think the victim eventually feels cold after a lethal bite (as they prepare to expire). I believe the poison travels inexorably from the location of the bite toward the heart, leaving a swath of icy doom in its path.

i may be completely wrong, prolly am, but i think there are snakes that can spit their venom, so those might be thin and cold, since they're coldblooded, the liquid wouldn't be hot

If we ignore for a moment the sensation that the venom might cause in its target, consider that serpents are cold-blooded, so it stands to reason that their venom would only be as warm as the environment allows...
