Does anyone out there do pottery? Is it possible to normally glaze a piece like a bottle on the inside (is high fire required for food safety?) and then raku the outside for decoration? I'm thinking I might like to commission such a piece from someone, if so. (If not, high-fire all around I suppose, if that's needed, not that it's necessarily hard to find potters - although I wouldn't mind referrals.)

I do pottery, though I don't have studio space again until February, because my fall semester work schedule got in the way. I don't think it's possible because the high-fire stuff will completely melt the raku glaze and mess it up if you do the raku first, and if you do the high-fire first, the pores as it were, would close and not take more/low fire glaze. But I could be wrong!

Well, obviously - I was asking about the other way around (high fire first). You're probably right, it'd probably close the pores of the ware. :-/ Oh well.
