Password security flaw (hashing issues?) might mean your Amazon password is effectively only 8 characters long
Apparently no one's worked out what age range of passwords is affected by this but changing it seems to fix the issue, so you might consider changing your password if you have an Amazon account. (n.b. this is not some kind of directed attack or database breach or anything, just that for those affected, their passwords are easier to crack because it is accepting any attempt which gets the first 8 characters correct, and not case-sensitive at that.)
