arethinn: MST3K's mad scientists looking confused, text "buh?" (confused (mads buh))
Just saw a TV commercial for some medication for "postmenopausal osteoporosis" (the specific text on the screen). And yet the narration announced that it's not for "women who are nursing, pregnant, or may become pregnant."

Postmenopausal.

Nursing/pregnant/etc.

ummmm....

(I suppose technically you could be post-menopausal and nursing, especially if you'd had a hystorectomy, but still.)

I think they have to say that for legal reasons. BTW, speaking from experience, having a hysterectomy does not grant instant menopause. You still have periods, assuming your ovaries are still there. You just don't bleed.

Did they also have their ovaries out? That's the only way it could be considered "instant menopause". The processes continue even if there's no blood, even though menstruation technically means the shedding of the uterine lining. Trust me, I would have LOVED to stop having every single other symptom, but that only happens if the entire reproductive apparatus is removed. I guess we women who have had hysterectomies could use a new term for the SAME DAMN THING? (Sorry...don't mean to be touchy.)
