Does anyone know what the thing to the left of the Magellanic Clouds (approx 1 million light years) in this xkcd comic is supposed to be? enotsola thinks it looks like a cat on a Colecovision.

Or, well, some more generic cat curled up on a more generic electric keyboard.

Either a Colecovision or something similar in general shape, like a typewriter, but that's a cat.

Hrm. OK, but it seems an odd thing to put out in space. (not going to read 7 pages of posts to see if it's more thoroughly explained, heh.) All the other silly objects (like "Ford Prefect" and the Futurama ship) are from sci-fi settings of one kind or another. I guess maybe he's just being weird...
