Bah: Navy reverses itself on gay marriages on military bases

(p.s. I know what they mean by "reverses itself", but it's still a strange-sounding phrase. Anyone else remember The Boy Who Reversed Himself?)

and this via scarlet_bee: So there's this Anti-Homosexuality bill due to be voted on in Uganda on the 13th, which includes the death penalty for homosexuality.

There's a petition against it here, which has over 1.5million signatures on it so far - they're hoping to get to 2 million. Apparently last time this came up in 2009 it was shelved after international condemnation, as the president of Uganda said it had become a foreign policy issue.

Sometimes I wonder if I live in the same reality as these people? 60 day countdowns? "Readiness approval checks"? Controversy over letting people get married in the same facilities as everyone else when, yanno, there's no policy against their relationship now?

It's just love, people. I know that's a hard thing for some people to wrap their heads around (love that is, not gay rights) but really.

Reads more like they're reversing themselves in concern about Congressional reaction. I understand the House Armed Services Committee is busily making sure the President can't reduce our nuclear weapons stockpile, for instance, over DOD objections.
