I am not offering an opinion about the bill (haven't even read past this paragraph in the linked article, much less anything more indepth), but CAN WE PLEASE STOP NAMING LAWS WITH SILLY ACRONYMS? Why not just call it the "Fair Fees Act"? I'm actually kind of surprised they didn't go for the pun on "fare" instead. GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY CUT IT OOUUUUUT

Back in January when enotsola and I were discussing the FANS Act, he proposed there be a STAHP IT Act, since it seems they must usually be starting with the desired acronym and working backwards to arrive at sometimes rather tortured names. I helpfully expanded that to Stop Trying Alladese Harebrained Phrases In Titles. :P

I've been annoyed at those cutesy acronym bill titles for years. Decades, even. Particularly when they spell out things like USA or PATRIOT. Although those are at least a handy warning that what's inside the bill is truly odious, so they tried to dress it up in stars & stripes so you'd think it's okay.

I'm with you (despite trying to do the same thing in my high school government class mock congress). This trend has alarmingly spread to computer vulnerabilities. Heartbleed, BEAST, etc. Blargh. Does everything need a cutesy name, marketing campaign, and flashy graphics?
