THE DEADLY SINS
ANGER
1. Who did you last get angry with? I'm rarely actually angry. Most it ever is is a moment's annoyance (see later question). However, in this case: my parents. Even though I'm 24 it seems we still haven't established that my room is my space (especially now since I'm a money-earning member of the household, and not a student who's being supported) and when I say you get out, you get out.
2. What is your weapon of choice? I'm not sure what's meant by this question. I don't carry a weapon, nor am I trained to use any.
3. Would you hit a member of the opposite sex? I have done, in a rare moment of near apoplectic irrational fury, but not with real strength and intent to harm behind it. I don't think I ever would do that, not out of anger (as opposed to self-defense) anyway. The closest I've done to the spirit of this question is spit on someone.
4. How about of the same sex? Again, I seriously doubt I would bring myself to.
5. Who was the last person who got really angry at you? Umm.. probably some library patron for whom I refused to bow, break rules, and give exactly what they wanted right now.
6. What is your pet peeve? Possibly when people get all personal with me when I do the above. I can understand them getting frustrated but they way they talk, you'd think I was doing it just special for them, to make their life hard, and no one else's. I gotta get out of this job. I hate people.
7. Do you keep grudges, or can you let them go easily? I can't think of any grudges I have or ever have had. Things tend to fade, and even if I have a current problem with a person, I tend to put it aside in favour of civil communication if we happen to be in the same space, and when we are not, I just really don't think about it much.
SLOTH
1. What is one thing you're supposed to do daily that you haven't done in a long time? Meditate or other magical exercise.
2. What is the latest you've ever woken up? I've awakened after sunset on a couple of occasions, although that was wintertime and so "after sunset" was about 5:00 or 5:30 pm. The latest I've really ever repeated is about 2:00 in the afternoon. I fail to see what is "slothful" about this, however. I do plenty of things during the late nights that lead to getting up in the afternoon.
3. Name a person you've been meaning to contact, but haven't. Umm... actually there isn't anyone I've been meaning to contact. I'm quite the hermit.
4. What is the last lame excuse you made? Hmm... I can't think of one that I gave knowing it was lame. They always seem good excuses to me.
5. Have you ever watched an infomercial all the way through (one of the long ones...)? No. Infomercials are funny for the first five minutes, but I've never been drunk or stoned enough to actually watch one all the way through.
6. When was the last time you got a good workout in? Uhh... probably back in late January or early February when I was actually still taking my morning walks. (Kai, I hope you stuck to your plan better than I did!) I don't tend to count sex, because that's not something I do expressly for the cardiovascular benefits.
7. How many times did you hit the snooze button on your alarm clock today? None. I have never trained myself into using a snooze button. I always immediately turn the alarm clock off. For this reason, I use two alarm clocks set to go off a few minutes apart, so I guess you could say I hit it once, and that's always the number of times I hit it.
GLUTTONY
1. What is your overpriced yuppie beverage of choice? Um, soy chai latte?
2. Meat eaters: white meat or dark meat? I like both, but I don't eat all that much meat in general, and more white (poultry) than red. In fact I tend to think of beef or pork as a bit of a treat, and especially so with lamb. Mmm, laaaamb...
3. What is the greatest amount of alcohol you've had in one sitting/outing/event? Uhhh, I have no idea. A lot, I suppose. I have drunk to the point of sporadic memory-loss on several occasions. The times when I was actually sick curiously don't seem to be among the highest-volume occurrences, though.
4. Have you ever used a professional diet company? No.
5. Do you have an issue with your weight? Not my weight specifically (it, and my body fat, seem to be healthy), just the way it's distributed on my body.
6. Do you prefer sweets, salty foods, or spicy foods? Of these three only? Sweet. I sometimes eat straight teaspoonfuls of honey, maple syrup, corn syrup, molasses, chocolate syrup...
7. Have you ever looked at a small housepet or child and thought, "LUNCH!"? Definitely not with a pet. With children, only in the sense of then they'd be dead and no longer annoying. I wouldn't seriously want to eat them. Ew.
LUST
1. How many people have you seen naked (not counting movies/family)? Total? A lot. I was a member of a skyclad group and I've been to pagan rituals/gatherings where clothing was optional.
2. How many people have seen YOU naked (not counting physicians/family? Umm... less, but still a substantial number. For example, there was that time Autumn had those photographers at her party...
3. Have you ever caught yourself staring at the chest/crotch of a member of your gender of choice during a normal conversation? On occasion, but usually I am looking in the eyes or random other bits that might interest me (hands, bits of fluff, etc).
4. Have you "done it"? WTF? Where was this thing being distributed that saying have you had sex would have been offensive? Yes, you ninny. Plenty of it.
5. What is your favorite body part on a person of your gender of choice? I'm a generalist. I like overall build and overall facial structure. I like nice hands and shoulders, and pretty hair and eyes, and soft skin.
6. Have you ever been propositioned by a prostitute? No. I'm female, anyway, which makes that rather less likely to happen.
7. Have you ever had to get tested for an STD or pregnancy? Not because of unprotected sex which was suspect, no. I've had Pap smears but that's just good sense. I once had them check to see if there was any kind of bacterial imbalance going on, which might have been acquired via sex, but that's not really the same thing.
GREED
1. How many credit cards do you own? Two.
2. What's your guilty pleasure store? Umm, probably Hot Topic, because really, I know I should neither feed the evil empire, nor actually display upon my person anything which might have been acquired there. But sometimes it's just so shiny!
3. If you had $1 million, what would you do with it? Either invest or buy a home (an investment in itself). A million really isn't that much, you know. Take it with me to Canada (via a bank account - what you, silly? can you imagine the duty on a million dollars in negotiable instruments?), where it would be $1,492,310! Probably split up fifty or a hundred grand among some charities or social organizations, and give a hundred or two to my parents, who are worried about whether they have enough to retire on (what with interest income becoming virtually nil over the past year).
4. Would you rather be rich, or famous? Definitely rich. I vant to be left alone.
5. Would you accept a boring job if it meant you would make megabucks? A boring job, yes. That's different than a job I utterly hate or that will somehow swallow my soul. Boredom I can deal with. I don't identify myself with my job; unless and until I actually wind up doing something I find meaningful, it will just be a survival tool.
6. Have you ever stolen anything? I shoplifted a couple of small food items (e.g. candy, small novelties from accesory shops) when I was younger. I've also done the "raid Mom's change jar or Dad's wallet" on a couple occasions, but never for more than $20 at a time.
7. How many MP3s are on your hard drive? Er, gigabytes. Not as many as some people, but still, gigabytes.
PRIDE
1. What one thing have you done that you're most proud of? Saving up tens of thousands of dollars via the aforementioned living with my parents that robs me of privacy. *grumble*
2. What one thing have you done that your parents are most proud of? Graduated from college, with the accompanying learning how to live on my own and manage a household that I did while I was there.
3. What thing would you like to accomplish in your life? Become an accomplished photographer or other sort of artist. Learn to see auras. Actually get a handle on magic. Get laser skin resurfacing done on my big ugly port wine stain birthmark, and some more on various bits of me I wish I were less hairy. (Yeah, that's sure a noble goal, I know.)
4. Do you get annoyed by coming in second place? Well, this depends on what situation. If I really think I ought to have been first (like, a spelling bee for instance), then yes, I am annoyed by less than perfection. But in most situations even third or fourth would be a pleasant surprise, because I think I'm such a failure.
5. Have you ever entered a contest of skill, knowing you were of much higher skill than all the other competitors? Not that I can recall.
6. Have you ever cheated on something to get a higher score? I think I once wrote math notes on my hand or something when we weren't supposed to have any for the test... I'm usually the student the other people are cheating from, heh.
7. What did you do today that you're proud of? Er, nothing. I haven't done anything that I don't do every (week)day.
ENVY
1. What item (or person) of your friends would you most want to have for your own? All the magic they seem to have that I don't. The ability to actually have people attracted to me, even if there's nothing really wanted (which is fine by me since I'm attached and don't want anything either).
2. Who would you want to go on "Trading Spaces" with? Um, no. I want to do my own decoration, thanks.
3. If you could be anyone else in the world, who would you be?
4. Have you ever been cheated on? Define "cheated", but in some sense, I do think so.
5. Have you ever wished you had a physical feature different from your own? Only most all of them!
6. What inborn trait do you see in others that you wish you had for yourself? See above about people actually being attracted to me. Any given talent, but most especially for drawing, painting, and energy perceptions.
7. Do you wish you'd come up with this survey? No, it seems far too much like work.
8. Finally, what is your favorite deadly sin? Probably Lust.
THE HEAVENLY VIRTUES
FAITH
1. What religion do you follow? I'm Pagan, but I definitely wouldn't say that I "follow Paganism".
2. What religion were you raised as? None. I self-indoctrinated as a Catholic (without my parents' knowledge) for a few months when I was 11 years old, and was performing my own Masses in the backyard because I thought it was fun (and I still like ritual and toys), but after getting annoyed with all the stuff I "had" to memorize and the number of times a day I told God I was a bad person, I decided to drop it and go with the magic and Goddess-worship I had also started to read about at that point.
3. Do you believe that forgiveness is a religious property, or a human property? Human - well, a quality of conscious beings, to be precise. Ahem.
4. Do you believe in magic? Do you believe in rocks?
5. What was the last promise you broke? Umm... I can't remember. I'm a pretty reliable person; if I say I'll do something, I'll do it, pretty much.
6. Have you ever said the words to a prayer and not meant it? See above about dropping Catholicism.
7. Do you believe that anyone could be perfect? A perfect what?
HOPE
1. Did you get everything you wanted over the last holiday season? Yes and no - there are always more things I want, but a lot of them are not known to the people who are in the habit of giving me gifts, and I don't make a big deal out of getting stuff during holidays or birthdays. I often prefer to buy things for myself because then I'm sure of getting exactly what I want, or at least of making my own mistake, rather than being in the awkward position of having something that wasn't quite right given to me by someone else. I'm running out of space, anyway.
2. Regarding your future, what is the best thing you could hope for? Moving to Canada, actually finding work there that will allow me to buy a house, and marrying enotsola.
3. Do you let yourself get your hopes up for something even if you know that there is a large chance of failure? Definitely not. In fact about the only time I let myself really get my hopes up is if there is no chance of failure. I'm one of those people who prefers not to try at all if the chances of failure seem too great.
4. Appears to be a missing question!
5. Have you ever bought a lottery ticket? When my mother took me with her to the bowling alley as a small child, the lady behind the counter would take a dollar from my mommy and let me scratch the scratch ticket.
6. Do you gamble? No. Well, except for Neopets games that involve such. I've never even so much as played penny poker, which isn't to say I've not played plenty of cards - you can't avoid it as a theatre tech! - just that it was never with betting.
7. Have you ever had something called off on account of bad weather, but then gone ahead and done it anyway? Uh, no... why should I want to go out in the bad weather? What's "hopeful" about this, I don't understand...
CHARITY
1. What causes do you support? In terms of mental agreement, or actual action? I am not the activist type, although I occasionally send in checks to the charity solicitations I get in the mail (which really only multiplies my junk mail *sigh*). I support abortion rights, humane and organic farming practices, hemp as opposed to logging, and animal rescue programs, mostly.
2. What causes have you given money or time to? See above.
3. Have you ever worked in a soup kitchen or done another kind of outreach for the homeless? No. I've brought food to canned/dry food drives, but that's it.
4. Would you ever consider joining the Peace Corps, Amnesty International, or another type? No, I'm not a "joiner".
5. Do you give money to the homeless on the street? Occasionally. Honestly, I am generally somewhat frightened and feel in a very awkward situation when asked, because it's not something I encounter in my daily life. I am a bad target when coming out of Death Guild - drunkenness makes me more charitable and even likely to sing along. I'm sure the panhandlers know that clubs are a good mark. Heh.
6. Have you ever helped out a friend with basic needs, like food and rent? I've never really been in a position to. I actually did once send a contribution to a pool for an online kin who was in bad straits and needed rent and food money.
7. What's the greatest extent you've gone to help a friend in need? Mostly just taxi service. I haven't had a lot of cases where need was apparent to me, and in the ones where it was, the friends were not close enough to me for me ro feel really comfortable offering money, or anything like that.
FORTITUDE
1. What are you most afraid of? Probably being out of control of what is happening to myself. I don't have to have total control, I just have to feel like I have enough information to cope with whatever might happen. I hate surprises (this includes surprise parties).
2. What did you do today that was really brave? Nothing.
3. Who is your favorite superhero, and why? I'm not into this sort of thing. Space Ghost as in Space Ghost Coast to Coast really no longer counts. How about the Tick? *grins*
4. Would you put your life in danger to rescue someone? I would probably want to, but be paralyzed when the moment of truth happened, unless it was enotsola.
5. If you were to face the Wizard, would you want more courage, more brains, or more heart? Probably more courage, but actually maybe more heart. I often worry that I am too cold and apathetic, not able to feel when I should, or empathize with other people.
6. Have you ever gotten stage fright? Hell yes.
7. Do you consider yourself to be a leader or a follower? Follower. I might be capable of the technical side of leadership or administration, but definitely not the charismatic, people-skills side.
JUSTICE
1. Have you ever been summoned for jury duty? I got the possible-summons-notification but never had to actually go down for the selection process, much less actually sit on a jury.
2. If they reinstituted the draft (for both genders), would you go, or would find some way out of it? I'd be a draft-dodger.
3. Do you support capital punishment (the death penalty)? I think so, but this isn't something I think about much.
4. Which should be guaranteed legal, prostitution or marijuana: I refuse to make a choice between these two. Neither is harmful in essence, just becaue of all the stuff that's cropped up around their illegalities.
5. Do you believe that Dubya is rightfully President of the USA? Nope.
6. What was your favorite media circus trial? You clearly have no idea how little TV I watch and how infrequently I read newspapers.
7. Have you ever written a letter to a politician? One or two as part of Camp Fire projects when I was younger, not for anything serious.
TEMPERANCE
1. What do you have the hardest time moderating yourself on? Um... alcohol, I guess. Once I start drinking (like at a party or club) I tend not to know quite when to stop. I perpetually am having "one too many".
2. Do you collect anything? Just general sort of clutter. Dust. Things that glow in the dark, glitter, or are shiny. How is it intemperate to collect things?
3. Are you addicted to anything? The internet? enotsola? Nothing that I consume by drinking, eating or smoking, anyway.
4. Have you ever put anything on layaway or used an installment plan? No, not yet. Never bought anything I couldn't pay for outright. The first thing I expect to do so for is a car.
5. What's your preferred method of paying for things? Cash. I occasionally use my debit card when I spent more than I have on hand at the grocery store and things like that, and generally use it to buy gas because I hate going into the snack shop to get change. I use credit cards mainly for online shopping, and sometimes as a way of buying something expensive without having to carry a huge wad. I use checks only to pay the credit card bills and when nothing else will work.
6. Tell us one thing you wish you hadn't let yourself do. Umm... that last time I took ecstasy I shouldn't have taken that third pill. Despite my post-loads I was none too happy the next day.
7. Do you feel that you obsess over things? Not most things. I'm pretty obsessed over my own appearance and inadequacies.
PRUDENCE
1. Who is the wisest person you know? You got me, pal. The people that tend to impress me as wise (as opposed to being "just zis guy, you know?") are usually online, and thus I think the fact that I only see a small, polished slice of them has something to do with it.
2. Have you ever participated in a vigil? I think I once did a Winter Solstice vigil for the sun. How is this related to "prudence"?
3. Do you take advice when it's given? Not always. Often I will if I asked for it. Unasked-for advice often goes in the bit bucket - I don't like to be told what to do.
4. What area are you wisest in? Umm, general life skills? I can really keep a handle on my money, for instance.
5. Do you drive defensively? After two accidents where I rear-ended the person in front of me by following too closely (although not driving too fast) in the rain, I'd almost say I drove paranoid-ly. I try to keep as much space around me as possible at all times. I get nervous when I look back on the highway at night and all I see is headlights and I can't really tell how close any of them are to my rear-end (which is important for changing lanes, if nothing else, which is the normal driving event that still scares me the most).
6. Have you ever had unprotected sex outside of marriage? Only every time I see enotsola, although the "unprotected" aspect of it is because I am sterilized. So if the implication is "did you ever have sex that could have resulted in a pregnancy, outside of marriage?" then the answer is only once, very briefly (not to a point anywhere near his ejaculation, although I know you can still get pregnant regardless), and there was one other occasion where I permitted penetration but no movement.
7. What did you learn today? That I gotta get back to getting to bed at a reasonable time (say 2:30 am), and this staying up til 5 am is no good for getting up the next day and going to work.
8. And of course, what is your favorite heavenly virtue? Probably Prudence.

Date: Feb. 26th, 2003 10:18 pm (UTC)From:No, but I pretty much had to bail out; my back was killing me, and my shoulders weren't handling things too well, either.
I'm still watching my diet, though, and have finally recovered enough that I think I can at least start climbing that hill again. (Literally, not just metaphorically.)
Basically, I'm trying to turn this into "I unfortunately had to take a three-week hiatus", rather than just "I quit doing it."
