Anywhere from a few days to a week before my period starts, my body odor slightly changes, which in my case means that I acquire a bit of one whereas usually my sweat smells of pure salt water.* This in and of itself is not weird -- hormonal changes and all. (I'm glad I seem to have mostly grown out of the whole "tender nipples" thing -- that can get owie.)
What is weird is that it's usually only the left armpit, not both.
WTF body?
* Another one for the quirks list, I guess: Under normal conditions I only shower once a week, and that's because my hair is starting to get oily and uncooperative. I can go about ten days before I feel like my body needs washing, aside from my hands and face. I almost never wear deodorant and, though I know this goes against the "toss cosmetics after six months" rule, have literally been working on the same stick for years because I wear it so rarely. This characteristic would seem to be genetic, as neither of my parents smells like much of anything either.
TMI back atcha'.
John also has the 'BO smells like nothing' advantage. Not to quite the same level; he needs a wash after about three days. Alas, I think you must purchase it in Chargen. I shower daily. :P I also think Chinese people get this on their character sheets for free (I don't know whether that's a genetic thing or a cuisine thing) as I haven't caught a single whiff of armpit the whole time I've been here, including on a city bus that must have had a hundred people jammed in together, many of whom were holding the ceiling rails. And antiperspirant simply isn't sold here except as a weird specialty import -- deodorant is available, antiperspirant isn't.

Date: Oct. 25th, 2007 05:42 am (UTC)From:Frankly, I can't tell if I smell or not (too many years in vet clinics, my sense of smell is weird), but given how much the rest of my immediate family does, I must assume that I do also. I do know that I sweat more when my period is near. Which is odd, since I also retain water. Go figure. And my breasts get ridiculously sore about every 3d month (which of course prompts all of my cats to walk on them several times a night!) and my emotions go absolutely bananas.
Sometimes, I really hate my cycle. Especially like now, when I'm on day 35, have been premenstrual for a week, and am just so over the whole thing!
All I can figure, bodies are just weird.
