Speech is weird. I mean, have you ever watched your mouth in the mirror, your lips forming all the shapes of spoken words? It's really weird and really neat at the same time. Some people seem to say everything really sexily, even if the words have no erotic content themselves. I seem to recall touching on that motif in a short story I wrote once...

It wasn't just that he was singing; he was supposed to be, since this part had both voices too, but it was the way he was forming the words that made Elisabeth trip over her lines. He was saying them the same way he had first said “Elisabeth” and “Beth,” like he were softly kissing each syllable as it came from his lips, letting them slide past his delicate tongue as one might a deep red wine.
