Jun. 19th, 2003 11:57 amIf anyone who saw the entry from last night is wondering why I deleted it, it wasn't because I didn't want to hear your dissenting opinions (although I suppose really, in terms of psychological analysis, I don't), but because I didn't want to see my own whining the next day or when I went back over my journal at some later time.
Juneteenth
Jun. 19th, 2003 06:19 pmThe calendar pinned to the bulletin board at work proclaims today to be Juneteenth. Now, this is a very multifaith calendar with regards to holidays - aside from the usual Jewish and Christian ones, it includes Wiccan, Buddhist, and Muslim as well. But "Juneteenth"? I'd never heard of it. Apparently it's a holiday celebrating the ending of slavery in the United States. Whaddyaknow.
I find the web design to be horridly amateurish and oh-so-early-modern (in web terms - you know, that time when everyone thought background images and tables were hot shit), but I just keep laughing...
"I've bookmarked Frenchy's web site because I haven't had this much fun since Dionysius spiked the sacred vapors at Delphi with nitrous oxide. Of course, it helps that she has this great picture of me on her page. I am sooooooo cute." -- Apollo, retired Greek deity
p.s. shouldn't she be calling herself Freedomy?
