dreams

I use two alarm clocks because I often find it hard to get up in the morning. I usually stir several times before the first one goes off; then it goes off at about 8:38 (I have its little pointer set to slightly after 8:45, but it has never worked right and I always have to second-guess it); then the second one goes off at 8:45-8:50 (it's digital, but it's a timer, so it depends exactly what I set the countdown for the previous night). Sometimes I doze after this for another ten minutes until 9:00, at which point I have to haul my carcass out of bed. All of this adds up to all the dreams I remember taking place roughly between 7 and 9 AM. Sometimes I will remember several, one for each stage, athough they usually fade within a few minutes of waking.

Well, this morning, in stage one (before any clocks) I had one of my standard-issue Michael/Aaron/random-boy-thinks-I-am-attractive dreams. In round two (between clocks one and two) I had a dream that I was telling [livejournal.com profile] enotsola about the dream in round one, just as if I were awake (in person, not online). In fact it was not just that, but I had the feeling that I wanted to tell him about it and therefore I purposely conjured him. (This wasn't exactly conscious control; rather I was dreaming that I had conscious control, but on the next level up, I didn't; really weird "nested" feeling). Round three wasn't directly related but I woke up when I dreamt that the clock on my computer read 2:01 AM, and I had the strong sense that this was because the "real world" clock was now at 9:00 AM and I had to get up. Lo, when I opened my eyes, this was so. (I'm not sure why my brain picked 2 AM, but hey...).

I think I'll carve an emoticon on my pumpkin too.

My father's family lived in Ohio until they moved out here to California in the 1950s, but I hadn't known until recently that further back, my paternal ancestors (that'd be the Irish ones) lived in New York, specifically in the area shown as a mid-dark green on the southern show of Lake Ontario in this image, if I've got the story right. Perhaps it's not so weird at all for me to want to go back to that part of the continent there after all.

Tux pattern for a pumpkin. Oh my...

Perhaps even better: Willy Wonka.
