I find it a bit odd that they've put "gay wedding" in quotes, as though it were not a real kind of thing, but hey. The first set of civil partnership ceremonies for gay couples in the UK have been held in Northern Ireland.

In re: last post about those two women getting married (or equivalent) in Northern Ireland, for anyone who might be following http://www.goroadachi.com/etemenanki/#thoughts:

I'm kind of amused that the name of one of the women is Grainne, which I understand to be related to the word grian, the Sun (a feminine noun). I don't know if this couple considers one of themselves to be more masculine and the other more feminine, or if they are both equally either or in fact something else entirely in terms of their gender identification, but I'm amused at the possible "Sun King" connection/reference. And also the idea that the "second coming" of the "Christ" type being is supposed to emerge as female instead of male. Oh, also, her surname is Close. As a regular word this can mean "nearby", or "confining, small" ("close quarters"), or "guarded, secluded, hidden". That of the other woman is Sickles, you know, like the tool used to reap grain (not the wizard money, lol). Hmmm...

(not that I'm suggesting any kind of direct connections - these things are just what their names happened to bring to my mind.)

Random urge for friends-list cleanup. Nothing personal, anyone.

I used to wonder how people were so immediately aware that other people had unfriended them. Very occasionally (once a month tops) I would check my friend-of list to see if anyone new that I didn't know had found me, not to find out whether people had unfriended me (I figure everyone has their reasons, most likely having to do with whether they find me boring or interesting, so it's no big deal). But until a few months ago I hadn't used the Semagic client, despite the fact that the Visions client hadn't been updated in years. And of course Semagic can give you all the gritty details of who has friended or unfriended you, enabling much drama to take place.

We wanted to let you know that we will soon be depositing $73.25 into your
bank account for the sales that you made in the recently completed selling
period.

This is over a two-week period. This has got to be my single highest one ever, due to the fact that I sold two out-of-print White Wolf supplements for $20 apiece, and my mother gave me a bunch of books to list, so I had like triple the inventory available compared to my usual. I suppose I could theoretically have gotten more for the White Wolf ones, but I was more interested in having them off my bookshelf. After this it's probably back to my average of $0-$5 a month, hehe.
