(no subject)
Oct. 15th, 2007 12:12 amWhy is it that, in the place where the Internet was half fucking born, I can't get decent Internet service? Where decent is defined rather liberally (by today's standards) as 384+kbps and reliably on? Right now I'm on a rare (over the past several days rare, anyway) good 50.6k connection. Where "good" is defined as "stays connected and I don't have to redial every five fucking minutes".
I've been sharing this for over two days with the other two occupants since the local free wireless seems to have gone crazy again (= won't assign IPs, and when it will, nothing comes down the pipe) and we don't have any other alternatives.
It's really this last that I'm ranting against -- this shouldn't even be an issue. But I'm out on the back forty of a copper wire loop, so no DSL, and cable and satellite are both unfeasible for various reasons of their own.
It's stupid, I repeat.
AT&T, I beg thee start stringing fiber. Plz?
