Airlines make a killing by charging fees for everything from checked bags to seat changes. A new bill—The Forbidding Airlines from Imposing Ridiculous (FAIR) Fees Act—aims to keep these fees in check.

I am not offering an opinion about the bill (haven't even read past this paragraph in the linked article, much less anything more indepth), but CAN WE PLEASE STOP NAMING LAWS WITH SILLY ACRONYMS? Why not just call it the "Fair Fees Act"? I'm actually kind of surprised they didn't go for the pun on "fare" instead. GREAT GOOGLY MOOGLY CUT IT OOUUUUUT

Back in January when [personal profile] enotsola and I were discussing the FANS Act, he proposed there be a STAHP IT Act, since it seems they must usually be starting with the desired acronym and working backwards to arrive at sometimes rather tortured names. I helpfully expanded that to Stop Trying Alladese Harebrained Phrases In Titles. :P
