If they manage to change the system before they get to your request, I'd be betting on even longer. *grumbles and rips up a few governments to appease frustration* However, seeing how they were talking about the system, if you're coming from the US it should be closer to the 2-3 years than the 7 years. People from asia were the ones complaining about 7 years. :)
You're right, US is worse. Glad I got my visas way before anything ever mattered :)
