Where the hell does the word asshat come from? What does it mean? I mean, I know what it means, but what does it really refer to? Is it having your head up your ass, so that it becomes a hat? What the heck am I supposed to picture, here?
ass+place where brain is supposed to reside=asshat- you do have it pretty much right, that ones head is so far up ones ass as to qualify as a hat, but there is also the connotation that one's head is now ones ass, or visa-versa.. it's one of those imagination symbolism thangs.. so far as I have been lead to understand
