Kids who are 17 are sounding a lot older than I did when I was 17.

I feel kinda funny about calling anyone a "kid", but I'm 29, and there's gotta come a day...

Time is speeding up. Brains are happening more and faster. Or something.

Yeah, the only concern comes from often the brains growing up faster socially, but still missing the more, well, survival and common sense parts. It varies, I guess. But yeah, it's kinda weird to call people in their late teens kids.

I frequently refer to our student employees as "the kids that work for me", and they're about 19 on the average. Eep.

I've caught myself calling early 20somethings that once or twice, but that's usually because it seems easier than a collective term "people", like "they're a good bunch of kids" just seemed to fit the description.

I've noticed that in my own children. My eight year old is sometimes where i was when I was about 12-14. So, I don't think it's just you.

Funny I find it opposite on both ends. I refer to people pre-teen to the early twenties as youths (but that's from social work), but I can't help but feeling that people are younger at the same ages I was. I might be confusing seriousness with age/maturity, but when I work with youth who are like 18-19, I usually feel they are so much younger than I was at that age.
